May 27, 2012 Service: May 29, 2012 Katherine Margaret (Luz) Graham passed away peacefully on May 27, 2012. Kay was born in Port Huron, MI on August 23, 1910 to George and Clarissa Luz. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 1932 with a degree in music and education. Kay taught both kindergarten and music in Port Huron and the Detroit area prior to marrying Donald V. Graham in 1937. She is survived by her three daughters, Judith A. Straayer, Sue (Ron) VanDenBosch, and Molly (Grant) Ellis. She was known as DeeDee to her 11 grandchildren, Kathy (Steve) Wurth, David (Natasha) Straayer, Kim (Steve) Holderman, Jeff (Wendy) VanDenBosch, Judith VanDenBosch(decesased), John (Kristi) VanDenBosch, Stephanie Ellis, Katie (David) Stuit, David (Aubree) Ellis, Elisabeth Ellis, Tim (Ann-Marie) Ellis; and 13 great grandchildren, Lena and Tim Wurth, Trinity and Sophia Straayer, Catie Holderman, Brandon and Breanna VanDenBosch, William, Wyatt and Tessa Stuit, Aila and Louisa Ellis, and Graham Ellis. Kay enjoyed playing the piano, going to the Symphony, reading and was an excellent bridge player. She travelled extensively during her life, her favorite place being Switzerland. Kay was preceded in death by her husband Don and her granddaughter Judy. The family would like to express our thanks to the staff of Hospice and the wonderful caregivers at Porter Hills. In lieu of flowers contributions to Porter Hills benevolence fund would be appreciated. A memorial service will be held at the Porter Hills Chapel on Tuesday, May 29 at 2:00pm.
