Zemaitis, Kathleen 12/10/1950 - 7/4/2019 Grand Rapids Zemaitis, Kathleen M. Grand Rapids, MI Kathleen "Kathy" Mary, (Spangler) passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at the age of 68. Kathy was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive lung cancer and fought like the red headed fighter she was for 3 long weeks. Kathy spent her last moments with her loving husband, sons and numerous family members. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Zemaitis Jr., sons Joe (Katie ) Zemaitis III, Andrew (Laura) Zemaitis, siblings Marilyn (Dan) Prindiville, Gayle Onasch, Fran Spangler, Valerie (Ashley) Livingston, Steve (Jan) Spangler, Laura (Tim) Brouwer, grandchildren Reid Zemaitis, Graham Zemaitis, Lydia Zemaitis, and Brayden Hubscher, Brother and sister in laws Rich (Vicki) Zemaitis, Jim Zemaitis, Tom (Lorna) Zemaitis, Mary Ann (Nick) Friar. Uncles and aunt, John Hallacy, Lou Hallacy, and Peggy Kammert. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins spread throughout the country. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dolores (Hallacy) Spangler and in laws Joseph and Nellie Zemaitis. Kathy was a devoted wife of 43 years. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend to so many. Kathy worked for Rockford Public Schools for many years and most recently the City of Grand Rapids. Kathy was always positive and loved to laugh especially when playing with her grandchildren. Kathy's presence and infectious laugh will be missed by everyone who knew her. Per Kathy's wishes, a celebration of life will be held on August 17 at 4:00 PM at St. George's Hall (1513 Quarry Ave. NW, Grand Rapids). Everyone is welcome. Cremation has taken place. The family would like to thank the caring ICU staff at Spectrum Butterworth for the outstanding care they gave Kathy.
