Obituary

On October 10, 2023, the world lost a beautiful soul, Kathleen Ruth Rynders,
affectionately known as Kathy. Born on September 21, 1943, in Clinton, Iowa, to the late
Dick and Inez Schaver. Kathy was a beacon of positivity and love, and her passing in
Grand Rapids, Michigan, leaves a void that will be felt deeply by many.

Kathy fought a brave battle against ALS, and her courage and resilience in the face of
such adversity will forever remain an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing
her. She was a woman of immense strength, known for her unyielding spirit and
unwavering optimism.

Kathy was the beloved wife of the late Denny Rynders, and together they raised a
beautiful family. She is survived by her son, Mark (Jodi) Rynders, of Loveland, Colorado
and their children Claryssa, Mitchell, and Derrick. Kathys legacy of love also lives on
through her daughter, Leah (Sean) Ivory, of Grand Rapids, Michigan and her children
Emma, Samuel, and Meredith. She was preceded in death by a son, Peter Rynders.
She was a cherished sister to Irvin (Donna) Schaver, of Georgetown, Texas. Allen
(Becky) Schaver, of Jamestown, North Carolina and Tim (Robin) Schaver, of Moline,
Illinois.

A graduate of Fulton High School, Kathy furthered her studies at Dordt College in Sioux
Center, Iowa. It was here that she developed her love for teaching, a profession she
pursued with passion and dedication. For many years, she was a beloved kindergarten
teacher, touching countless young lives with her kindness, patience, and nurturing spirit.
Kathy was not only a teacher in the classroom, but she was also a teacher in life,
imparting wisdom and love to all around her.

In addition to her professional life, Kathy was a devoted volunteer at Bargain Bonanza,
the Windmill Cultural Center and the Fulton Thrift Store. She was always ready to lend a
hand where it was needed. Her selfless spirit and tireless dedication to serving others
were hallmarks of her character, earning her the love and respect of her community.
Kathys interests were as varied as they were numerous. She had a beautiful voice and
loved to share it as a member of the RiverChor and the Dordt Alumni Choir. She also
found peace and tranquility working in her gardens and flower beds. Kathy was a
talented quilter, creating beautiful pieces that were as warm and inviting as she was.
But above all else, Kathy loved spending time with her family and grandchildren,
cherishing every moment spent in their company.

Kathleen Ruth Rynders lived a life filled with love, service, and grace. Her memory will
forever be cherished by those who knew her, and her legacy will live on in the countless
lives she touched. The world may seem a little dimmer without Kathys vibrant spirit, but
the love she spread will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were blessed
to know her.
