Kathleen Anne Malloy, 70, passed away on September 6, 2025. Known to everyone as "Kack" she brought joy and laughter to all who knew her.
Born to the late Nannette and Robert "Bus" Malloy, Kack grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. She cherished every moment spent with them, and getting family together was very important to her. She loved her family beyond measure, and she was the life of the party. She had a great fashion sense and always looked like a million bucks. Her vibrant personality reflected her natural flair for style. She also loved watching her favorite Detroit sports teams and Notre Dame football.
Kack dedicated her life to the service industry. For many years she worked at Gerald R. Ford International airport where she served travelers from all over the world. Many people who passed through Grand Rapids got to know her warm smile and easy conversation. Later in life she found her place as a barista at Starbucks. She was beloved by all the other store employees at the mall, where she knew everyone by name and remembered their usual coffee order. Her unique ability to make others feel seen and appreciated made her a highlight of their day.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Nannette and Bus Malloy, brother Christopher Malloy, nephew Kyle Malloy, niece Lindsey Jo Malloy and great nephew Miles Mason.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. She is survived by her siblings, Kevin (Kathy) Malloy, Sean (Carla) Malloy, and Patricia Malloy; her sisters-in-law Cindy Malloy and Mary Bernard; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She will be dearly missed by her family, her friends, and the countless people whose lives she brightened with her infectious laughter and boundless love.
A lifelong friend shared this tribute, a sentiment that perfectly captures the spirited person Kathleen was: "You are by far one of the most dynamic people I have ever known. She was a true force to be reckoned with in all the best ways. Kack loved fiercely, and that love was always felt and fiercely returned. She will be so missed."
