Obituary

Kathleen Alberta Cote "Nin", 70, of Cape Cod MA, passed away quietly in her sleep on August 14th, 2021, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo MI.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2022 for those who knew and loved her.

Kathy or Nin as she was affectionately called by all that knew her later in life was born December 2nd, 1950, in Fall River MA the daughter of Albert Cote & Arlene Curtis Franzen. She came into the world a fighter weighing in at just 2lbs some ounces and showed life she was here to show it who was boss, and that she did. Kathy first graduated from Saint Mary's Home School in New Bedford MA, and then went on to graduate high school with the class of 1970 from Dennis - Yarmouth Regional High School in South Yarmouth MA. Later, she attended college at Cape Cod Community College in Barnstable MA where she became fascinated with the law and studied to be a paralegal. She then spent many years working as a Nanny to many families at the same time as being a full-time single mom. Through her love of children, she became involved in the Big Brothers & Big Sisters organization & hosted many Fresh Air Fund children in her home for summers. She had a love for writing music, short stories & poetry. You could often find her throughout the years curled up reading, playing games, or puzzles and boy did she like to cause mischief. Many of us who knew and loved her knew to be cautious we never knew if she was serious or joking and often found ourselves on the other side of one of her playful shenanigans. Among her many accomplishments she was most proud of her awards for her plastic canvas creations at the Barnstable County Fair, the acknowledgments she received for her writings, but none of it held a candle to the pride and adoration she had for her family which when asked was her greatest achievement of all time.

Kathleen is preceded in death by her Mother Arlene Curtis Franzen, Father Albert Cote, her favorite older Brother Terrance "Victor" Franzen, and her foster parents Nelson & Mary Kierstead.

Kathleen is survived by her only child her daughter Kasha Elizabeth Arlene Filer-Pendragon, son in law Paul Augustino Filer-Pendragon, older sister Sharon Duarte, younger Brother Albert Arthur Cote, sister of the heart Isabelle Cahoon, and her 5 Grandchildren Kacie Jane West, Logan Brady Grahm Eldridge, Anthony Augustino Filer, Kaylyn Rene Filer, and Derek Dwight Alexander Morgan. She is also survived by many, many nieces and nephews & her furry grandkids Roxie Roxette Pendragon, & Barney Waitforit Pendragon.
