Karen Marie VanderMeer, 61, of Howard City passed away unexpectedly on November 4th, 2022, at Butterworth Hospital of Grand Rapids, surrounded by family.

She was born on January 7th, 1961, the daughter of Wayne and Judith (Mooney) Sanford.

Karen worked for many years as an owner of her cleaning business. She loved plants and many people said she had a green thumb. At her days in Rockford High School, she set multiple track records. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren whenever the opportunity arose.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents Wayne Sanford and Judith Smith, and her youngest brother Kenneth Smith.

Karen is survived by her three siblings Jackie Russo, Michael Sanford, and Brenda Sanford Lail. She is also survived by her children Nicholas and Angela VanderMeer, Tory Bennett, and Jazmine and Bruce Aldridge. Her grandchildren Faith, Brian, Matthew, Alexandra, Corbin, Logan, Lukas, Levi, Izzabell, Skylee, and Sylar.

A celebration of Karen's life will be held on November 20th, 2022, at 1:00 PM. The memorial will be a potluck, please bring a dish to pass.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for a contribution to be made to Saginaw Odyssey House a rehabilitation facility, so that others may not have to endure addiction like they have. Service Details. Celebration of Life Sunday, November 20th, 2022 | 1:00pm
