Karen Lea ( Nordstrom ) Sterling was reunited with her parents Herbert and Francis and her brothers-Herbert and Darrell as she went to be with her Lord and Savior after her brief battle with lung cancer on April 03, 2019. She had a passion for helpiing others and donating her time since she served as a Candy Striper as a teen. Throughout her years Karen enjoyed volunteering her time to others in need: Wounded Warriors, animal shelters and child sponsership. Karen was a legal secretary and a para-legal and a court reporter. After retiring from the court system she worked for Robinettes Apple Haus and winery and attending events through Grand Rapids Senior Centers. Karen lived a full life and God Blessed her with a good mind and active body up until the very end of her life. Her feisty spirit will not be forgotten. Family first and always: Mother to Renee ( husband Gary LaFrenier ) and her son Brett ( Matt Moore ) Grandma Karen to Brian ( Amy) LaFrenier, Kevin (Amy ) LaFrenier, Jennifer ( Scott Stockwell ), Christine LaFrenier, and Tate LaFrenier. She was GIGI to Corine, Sydney, Brendan, Madeline, Iris, Ava, Jack, Logan, Gavin, and Gibson. Loving sister to Ronald and Pat Nordstrom, MaryLou Nordstrom, and Virginia Nordstrom. She was also loved by many nieces and nephews. She will be lovingly remembered by her many friends. The Family would like to extend their gratitude to the many doctors, nurses, and techs at Blodgett Hospital, and the Lemmen Holton center ,Porter HIlls and Faith Hospice for all the care and support during this difficult time. A Memorial Service will be held on April 10, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Berkley Hills Church in Grand Rapids. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Faith Hospice.
