Obituary

Julie Ann Turley, 71, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at her home in Kentwood, MI, surrounded by her loving family, as she was taken home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and reunited with loved ones who had gone before her.

Julie was born on September 3, 1954, in Niles, MI, to Robert and Claudia Strefling. She was the second oldest of seven children and graduated from Galien High School in 1972. On February 20, 1971, Julie married the love of her life, Steven Paul Turley. This year, they would have celebrated 55 years of marriage. They were blessed with two children and six grandchildren.

Julie was a devout Christian who believed strongly in her faith. Her beliefs guided every aspect of her life, and she lived with the confidence that one day she would be welcomed into the Lord’s presence and reunited with her previously departed loved ones. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and selflessness, always putting others before herself. She truly enjoyed gardening, visiting with friends, taking trips on the motorcycle, and flying with Steve and her brother-in-law Jim; but her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was deeply devoted to her family and will be greatly missed. Her family would like to extend sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Corewell Health Hospice and Palliative Care of West Michigan for their compassionate care and support.

Julie is survived by her husband, Steve Turley; her children Jamie (Jen) Turley and Stephanie (Brent) Murray; and her six grandchildren, Tristan, Tyler, Eden, Cara, Owen, and Tucker. She is also survived by her siblings Roberta Warnke, Nancy DeFreez, Sandra (Ron) Dina, Randy (Debbie) Strefling, and Laura (Eugene) Oldham; along with many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Claudia (Prenkert) Strefling; her brother, James Strefling; her mother-in-law, Valora (DeMorrow) Turley; and her father-in-law, Henry Turley. The family takes comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of Jesus and joyfully reunited with them.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in the Rez Center on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Resurrection Life Church, 5100 Ivanrest Ave SE, Grandville, MI. Please enter through Door “E” or “H”. The family invites you to join them for a light luncheon following the service at the church.
