Julia Ruth Cortright (Smith) 95 of Allegan, Michigan passed peacefully at her home on Little John Lake, Allegan, MI on January 19, 2023.  Julia was born on April 17, 1927, in Houston, TX to Floyd and Ruth Smith.  Julia retired from teaching Jr. and Sr. High School in Allegan after 25 years.  She had many interests.  She loved reading, playing bridge with friends and competitors, and all things theater.  She directed plays in the High School, with the Community Players, and at their winter residence in Texas.

Julia was preceded in death by her husband Alfred of 61 years, her daughter-in-law, Christine Cortright and two grandchildren, John David and Jordan Ballinger.  She is survived by six children, Michael Cortright, Sheryl Flynn (Michael), Mary Olsen (Chris), Rebecca Cortright (Chris), Kathleen Horn (Mark), and John Cortright (Connie), 16 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will take place later in the summer.
