Obituary

Judy Carole Bies, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, (formerly of LaSalle, Barryton, and Farwell), age 81, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 27, 2023.  She was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1942, to
"Hogan" Harry Willard and Brooksy B Milam.

Judy was the big sister with a younger sibling, Randy, coming along to complete their family just a few years later.  Her parents grew up, met, and married in West Tennessee and often returned to visit
with family there. Judy had many dear memories of spending summers with her grandparents and her great Aunt May on the family farms. She learned to sew, crochet, garden, harvest, and put-up canned goods during those summers. These were life skills she enjoyed her whole life that blessed her family.

Judy attended Michigan Christian College and achieved her Associates Degree in May of 1962.  Judy and Tim married three months after college graduation, in August of 1962.  Over the next few years, Wendy, Christopher, and Daniel joined them.  Judy loved being outdoors all year long, whether tending a garden, going for long walks, camping, fishing, or cross country skiing.  When indoors, she liked to relax, yet keep her hands and mind busy by reading her Bible, hand sewing clothes, crocheting, and dabbling in paints.

Judy is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Tim Robert Bies; loving children: Wendy (David) Hannum and Christopher (Katy) Bies; her brother, Randy (Sandy) Milam; grandchildren: Casey Hannum, Cody Hannum, Denise Davis, Drew Bies, Abby Bies, Kelsie Bies, Madeline Bies, and Elizabeth Bies; and great grandchildren: Kammara Emry and Piper Emry.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Daniel Bies.

There will be a time of visitation at 10:30 a.m., followed by memorial service, on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Bellows-Brown Church of Christ, 1033 South Brown St., Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858.  Everyone is invited to stay for a luncheon after the service.  Those wishing to offer expression of sympathy are encouraged to make a memorial contribution to the Gift of Life foundation or Beechwood Hills Christian Camp of Hopkins, MI.
