IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judith L
Beals
July 12, 1934 – May 27, 2025
Judith Lynn Beals, age 90, of Grand Rapids left this life, on May 27, 2025, to claim her eternal reward in Heaven. Judy was the proud and loving wife of her late husband Arthur Beals who she affectionately teased and flirted with for 54 years of marriage. Upon passing from this life, she became the guest of honor at the Beals' Family Reunion where she was joyously reunited with her late husband and two sons, Craig Beals and Eric Beals, who had both preceded her to the Lord's house. Also, at the reunion; her parents, Julius and Donna Harmelink; her brother Ralph Harmelink; and in-laws, William and Alice Beals. Judy is survived by her children: son, Brian (and Martha) Beals; daughters, Annie Beals and Carol Walker; grandchildren, Corey Walker, Victor (and Tiffany) Beals, Sam Beals, Hamish and Ruby Beals-Taylor; her brother David (and Christine) Harmelink; and her great-granddaughter Alice Beals.
Judy graduated from South High School and attended Grand Rapids Junior College and Western Michigan University – getting her degree in teaching. She taught kindergarten in Grand Rapids Public Schools. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in downtown Grand Rapids and for many years was part of the leadership for the Youth Groups. Later she was part of the Stephen Ministries that provides support and mentorship within the church. Her calm and loving example of service to others for many decades is remembered and celebrated by many. For the past 12 years Judy lived at Clark Retirement Community and enjoyed being with her many friends. Judy proudly raised her family on the west side of Grand Rapids. She was a committed supporter of her children's and grandchildren's many sporting and theatrical events and was always proud no matter the outcome. Her smile, laughter and warmth will be dearly missed by those who are left behind, but we rejoice in the faith and knowledge that we will all be together again, one day, in Heaven.
Judy's memorial service will be held at the Ofield Funeral Home (4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood MI 49508) on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 2:00 pm. Visitation with the family will be held at the Ofield Funeral Home on Friday, June 13, from 4 to 7pm and also after the memorial service on Saturday. Memorial contributions can be made to the JFON (Justice For Our Neighbors) fund in care of First United Methodist Church.
