Juan O. Reyes of Grand Rapids, Michigan, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. He was born to Catarino and Maria Reyes on March 30, 1930, in Brownsville, Texas.

He was married to Maria Vasquez at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Brownsville, Texas in April 1955. Together they had fifteen beautiful children. As a father, Juan was known as the discipliner. When his lovely wife passed in 1983, he never remarried and instead dedicated his life to his family.

Professionally, Juan was able to live out his passion for trains as a trackman for Conrail. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic that he passed down to generations to follow.

In his free time, he could be found sitting his recliner chair, browsing through books and magazines. He was always striving to learn more about new cultures and places.

However, his greatest legacy was his family. He was the patriarch of his large family whom he taught love and loyalty above all else.

Juan is survived by his loving children Gloria Raseley; Sanjuana and Dean Barrett; Juan Jr. and Juana Reyes; Francisco and Linda Reyes; Maria Magdalena and Allen Perrin; Rolando and Donna Reyes; Rodolfo Reyes; Caesar Reyes; Abel and Pam Reyes; Arturo Reyes; Erminia and Craig Morris; Flora and Patrick Broski; and Santa Wright; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Maria, and two children, Maria De La Luz Conde and Baldamar Reyes.

There will be a time of visitation from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2020, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49508. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral will be limited to immediate family only.
