Joyce Elaine Martis (Fryling-Ellis) was called to Heaven on her 92nd Birthday, February 13, 2025.  Born on February 13, 1933, Joyce was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her very large family.  She worked as a Caseworker for Kent County Social Services for over 20 years before becoming a volunteer to caring and financially donating for cats at Crash's Landing and Focus on Ferals.  She was a member of Buck Creek Church.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence Martis, her parents, John & Tena Fryling, her sister, Donna Fischer, two sons-in-law (Doug VandenBerg and Donald Hartman), and twin grandbabies, Conner & Skyler Wilson.

She is survived by four daughters, Sandra Hoogterp (Joel), Debra Wilcox (Ron), Vicki Pine (David) and Cheryl VandenBerg.  Also, eight Grandchildren (Nicole, Eric, Kelli, Sarah, Amanda, Jason, Ron III, and Chad), four step Grandchildren (Mark, Jeffrey, Kelly & Jason) and 26 Great Grandchildren as well as several special family members and cat-loving friends.  Sadly missed by family and pets Pug, Bucky and Kitty, Freya.

Per her request, immediate cremation occurred and there will be a graveside service/burial late Spring in Rexton, Michigan, her beloved Upper Peninsula.
