Obituary

Joyce Annette Dickerson Ludlow was ushered into the pearly gates of heaven on Oct. 3, 2023. She was
born to Donald and Mabel (Hoffman) Dickerson on Oct. 14, 1938, raised in Bloomingdale, Michigan and
graduated from Bloomingdale High School in 1956.

She spent her childhood working at Dickerson's Greenhouse, founded by her parents. She found her
true calling to caring for children and opened an in-home daycare, Aunt Jo's Daycare. This allowed her to
raise her children from home. From 1967 through 2021, she was lovingly known as "Aunt Jo" by many.
Alongside raising her own family and operating the daycare, she also became a foster mother. She
provided care and demonstrated God's love to over 100 foster children, mostly infants, and over 400
daycare children.

Joyce was an avid Christian servant and instilled the same faith in her family. She loved fiercely and
prayed diligently. Her door was always open for family and friends to stop by. She spread God's love on
multiple mission trips overseas, as a youth camp counselor at Warner Camp, as a children's leader at
Westwood Church of God and when she opened her home for Bible studies.

She leaves behind six children, Christine, Loretta, Verna, Marsha Kay, Amylyn, and Domonic and four
"sons in love" Don, Mark, Shawn, and Jon. She positively influenced nine grandchildren Melanie, Sarah,
Hannah, Nathaniel, Megan, Abigail, Rebekah, Kimberly, and Andrea and two "grandsons in love" Drew
and Drew. Although her time was short with four great grandchildren, she loved dearly Isaac, Natalie,
Ava, and Lauren. Also surviving are her sisters Barbara Cloud, Florence Engler and "sister in love" Nancy
Dickerson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jim Dickerson and two "brothers in love" Fred Cloud
and Frank Engler.

She would want to be remembered by her legacy of hot air balloons, reminding the world that "God's
love gives you a lift, so go for it!"
