Obituary

Joshua Giovanni Guzman, a cherished soul, was called to his eternal home on December 11, 2025, at the age of 30. Born on June 16, 1995, in Houston, Texas, Joshua's life was a testament to the enduring spirit of love, faith, and dedication. He departed this world in Wyoming, Michigan, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and resilience that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.

Joshua's early years were spent under the nurturing care of his mother and father, Melissa and Gilmar Guzman, and the companionship of his beloved sisters, Soraya Guzman, and Jeimie Rodriguez. Joshua's journey then led him to the love of his life, his wife, Nancy Guzman, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond, built on mutual respect and adoration. His life was further enriched by the love and guidance of his stepmother, Cindy Guzman. His step-siblings, Andrew Waterman, Stephanie and Jeremiah Lehman, along with Khris Twigg, and his children, Mikaela Luedecking and Austin Twigg, added joy to his life.

A proud graduate of East Kentwood High School, Joshua's passion for craftsmanship was evident in his decade long commitment in carpentry, where he strived to meticulously build homes of great quality. His dedication to service was further demonstrated when he enlisted in the Michigan National Guard in 2024. Joshua embraced the discipline and camaraderie of military life, graduating from basic training and AIT as an 11c mortar man with distinction. His recent promotion to Specialist on December 6, 2025, was a proud milestone, reflecting his unwavering commitment to excellence.

An enthusiast of life's simple pleasures, Joshua found joy in a multitude of activities. He was an avid video gamer, finding solace in virtual worlds after a day's hard work. Golfing, soccer, and fishing were among his favorite sports, offering him both the thrill of competition and the serenity of a day spent outdoors. His competitive spirit shone brightly in paintball and pool league tournaments, where his strategic mind and team spirit came to the fore. Joshua's love for his pets, Kona and Lulu, was evident in the countless trails they explored together, often accompanied by his adoring wife.

His life was a canvas of cherished moments, from tranquil walks with his dogs to exuberant nights out with friends and family. Joshua was a beacon of light in every gathering, with his charming smile, laughter, and warmth drawing people together in a celebration of life's joys.

Joshua's untimely departure has left a void that can never be filled. Yet, his memory lives on in the hearts of his family: his wife, Nancy; his mother Melissa and Khris; his father Gilmar and Cindy; his sisters, Soraya and Jeimie; his step siblings, Andrew, Stephanie, and Jeremiah; his in-laws, Graciela, J. Guadalupe, Alberto, Rocio, Elizabeth, and Beto; his godson, Manny;  along with his extended families, McCumber, Guzman, Lehman, Calvillo, Barajas, and Twigg; and lastly, his pets, Kona and Lulu.

As we honor Joshua's memory, let us hold  onto the love he shared and the example he set. Joshua's spirit will forever be a guiding light, instilling in us the strength to face each new day with courage and hope.
