Obituary

Josephine Harriett (Freed) Blakeslee of Byron Center Michigan (formerly of Carson City, Michigan) passed away at the age of 94 on November 20, 2020.

Josephine was born the oldest of 10 children to Clarence and Zelma (Charter) Freed on a farm near Sumner, Michigan. Unfortunately Zelma passed away when Josephine was just 3. Clarence then married Anna who became a mother to Josephine. She married Rex Edward Blakeslee on January 17, 1948.

Josephine loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them. She was employed by the Carson City Health system until her retirement. She was known in Carson City for helping others, her love of garage sales and dancing the night away with Rex.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rex Blakeslee and her brothers, Benjamin Freed, Alvin Freed and Lawrence Freed.

She is survived by her three children, Sandra Loweke and her two sons, David (Cyrinda) Gloden and Charles Gloden; Cynthia (William) Madey and their daughter Kelly; Cheryl (Jack) Caudill and their two daughters Lisa (John) McCollins and Lindsey (Blake) Marshall; 6 great-grandchildren, Bryelle (Connor) Gloden Moore, Griffin Gloden, Dylan Gloden, Jack McCollins, Oakes McCollins and Emery Marshall; six siblings, Elmer (Pat) Freed, Burdell Burch, Zelma (Lyle) Parks, Lois Gittleman, Harry (Betty) Freed and LaVerne Barr; her sisters-in law, Gloria Blakeslee Brundage, Betty Blakeslee Saxton and Muriel Brown Blakeslee,

There will be a celebration of life in the spring/summer of 2021 to be announced at a later date.
