Obituary

Joseph Edward Risner, 78, of Wyoming, Michigan, died peacefully in his sleep just after midnight on Saturday, October 21, 2023, after a two month battle with various health challenges.

Joe was a kind hearted, generous, honest and loving man, who showed through his everyday actions that he was "One of the good ones". He enjoyed the simple things like a good cup of coffee, a beautiful day spent outside, an honest day's work and a peaceful life.

He was born in Coldwater, Michigan, in the year 1945, to Della Risner and Elmer Risner. Joe was one of eleven total children. He lived a very modest childhood, filled with many challenges, but he chose to learn from those experiences and he became a man who was able to figure out solutions to any task he faced. He spent his adolescent years fishing in the creek, running around the woods and getting into typical young person mischief.

As a young man, he joined the US Army and was stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Eventually, he received honorable discharge to attend to family matters.

Joe was naturally good with his hands and started a career in construction, specifically working in the fence building industry. He worked with his brothers for many years before branching out and starting his own fence company in Las Vegas, Nevada. He successfully ran that business with his wife until they sold the company and retired in 2007. After retiring, he and his wife spent their time between Arizona and Michigan. They continued to travel and visit family members across the United States and spend quality time with their children and grandchildren.

Joseph Risner was married to his loving wife, Everdina Risner, for 42 years. They shared many adventures together and raised three children (Joseph Edward Risner, Travis Troy Risner and Renee Ann Risner). They were also blessed with grandchildren (Heather Lynn Risner, Travis Troy Risner and Madden Lee Risner) and a great grandson (Jimmy John Alvarado).

Joseph Edward Risner was a dreamer, resilient, hardworking, practiced incredible integrity, enjoyed teaching others new skills and life lessons and he genuinely cared for people. He donated his time and resources to various charitable organizations, including a children's orphanage in Northern Mexico, a church in Dolan Springs (Arizona) and he also participated in local AMVET events. He was always looking for ways to be of service to those around him.

He will be missed terribly by those who knew and loved him. Although, he will always be in our hearts.
