Joseph Otis Hammer was a loved son by Ronald and Jeannette Benedict Jr. Grandson to Joanne Sayer-Beattle. Brother to Nicholas Hammer and Tyler Benedict. Father to Sam Mead and Sophia Wilson-Hammer. Grandfather to Ophelia Knight. And friend to many. 

Joe lost his battles with physical and mental health issues, as well as addiction. Now he is finally free from all his Earthly suffering. 

He was a free spirit who had trouble planting his roots. He touched so many lives in so many ways. He was opinionated and stubborn but you could bet he would make you laugh with his awesome impersonations. He wanted to join the Peace Corp but never got the chance. 

He loved the color baby blue, cheesecake, being outside, and singing. His favorite song to sing was "Picture" by Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow. 

He loved helping people. It never mattered what you needed or how long it took. He was there.

He will live in our hearts and minds forever.
