March 16, 2014 Service: March 21, 2014 Joseph W. Dillon, aged 88, of Grand Rapids, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014. Surviving are his daughters Barbara (Richard) Smyrnios, Beverly Dillon, Ann (Robert) Ellis, Lynn (Dale) Harris; grandchildren Troy Smyrnios, Tadd Smyrnios, David Ekkens, Kathryn Ellis, Haley Ellis, Robert Ellis Jr., Christina Ellis; special niece and nephew Deborah Peters and Keith Dillon. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Nelda Dillon and brother, Richard Dillon. He worked for General Motors for over 30 years in the Diesel Equipment Division and graduated from University of Michigan with a Masters Degree. Joe loved bird watching, University of Michigan Wolverines and golfing. Memorial service will be held Friday, March 21 at 1pm at the Ofield Funeral Home with visitation from 12-1pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Blandford Nature Center in Grand Rapids or Michigan Audubon Society.
