IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jon Leslie
Boaz
April 30, 1957 – February 13, 2024
Jon Boaz was born on April 30, 1957, to Barry Joseph Boaz and Shirley Joan (Stumpf) Boaz at Battle Creek Community Hospital located in Battle Creek Michigan. Jon was one of four children. Jon passed away in his sleep on February 13, 2024. In his early years, Jon attended South Westnedge Elementary School, and Oakwood Junior High School, and graduated from Loy Norrix High School.
Jon loved the outdoors, working with his hands, and helping people. As a child, Jon joined Cub Scouts and transitioned to Boy Scouts, where he attained Eagle rank. Jon was also involved in other school activities. He played the coronet in the band and football in middle and high school. While Jon was in middle school, he started to take engine repair courses and continued automotive classes throughout high school. Jon's first job was working for the Kalamazoo Gazette as a newspaper delivery boy, and he worked at Houtkoopers Fruit Market during high school. After graduation, he obtained a job at General Motors in Kalamazoo, Michigan, transferred to the Lansing plant when it closed in 1999, and worked there until retirement. Jon also worked a side job at United Chrome in Kalamazoo, MI. Jon was also a Certified Harley Davidson Mechanic. In Jon's free time, he bowled in a bowling league for 20 years and loved to take his kids bowling and swimming. He enjoyed long walks, spending time with his kids, riding and building motorcycles, and working on anything with an engine. Reece, white cheddar cheese-its, burgers, Papa John's pizza, Coke Zero, TV, tinkering in his garage, having a campfire, visiting his family, and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers brought Jon joy in his later years. Jon, the memory of you is forever in our hearts!
Jon was a wonderful, caring son, father, uncle, brother, and friend. Jon is survived by many relatives, including his mother Shirley Joan (Stumpf) Boaz, brother Paul Arthur Boaz, sister-in-law, Brittney (Mulvey) Boaz, sister Linda Diann (Boaz) West, his children Kevin Allen Boaz, JoAnna Lynn (Boaz) Lester and her husband William (Bill) Lester, nieces and nephews, Nicholette Paige West, Daniel Jacob Boaz, Kristina Elizabeth Boaz, Gavin Christopher West, and Zachary Marcus Gim West, and five grandchildren, including Jordan Tyler Boaz, Breydan William Jon Boaz, Jon Paul Lester, Gabriel Michael Lester, and Anna Marie Lester.
