On Monday September 20, 2021, John Louis Rzepka, loving father of three children, was brought home to be with his Lord and Savior after a long battle with dementia. John was born on February 20, 1953, to Joseph and Patricia Rzepka. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and is survived by his sons Adam (Elizabeth) Rzepka, Jonathan (Mikayla) Rzepka, and daughter Alicia Rzepka as well as sisters Patti, Judy, Sue, Peggy, Kathy, Jan, and twin brother Joe and their spouses along with a multitude of nieces and nephews.
John passed away peacefully in Grand Rapids, MI where he ended his working career as an enrolled agent specializing in tax resolution. He had the patience of a saint which is likely why his career in tax was so successful. John never met a stranger, had a heart of gold, and will be remembered as one of the nicest, most caring individuals that most had ever met. He loved his children more than anything in this world and did everything in his power to be the best father possible. He beamed at their successes whether it was sports, work, or other life accomplishments and even in his toughest days during his fight with dementia would find enough of himself to be able to utter the phrases, "I'm so proud of you," and "I love you."
John wanted nothing more than to be a grandfather, but selflessly let go of the life he clung to for so long to make way for his first grandson who will be born at the end of October 2021. This act epitomized the man that John was, and his family knows that he will be the best grandfather from Heaven. John's legacy was anchored by his loving spirit and positive attitude which his children will carry on in hopes that they can share a little part of him with those who were not fortunate enough to know the man that they got to call dad.
A memorial service will be held to honor his amazing life on Thursday September 30, 2021, at Ada Bible Church at 3869 Knapp St. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be immediately followed by a luncheon concluding at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
