John MacDonald McKay II, age 79, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Metro Hospital. He was born on August 17, 1942, in Grand Rapids. Diane Marie (Joyce) McKay, age 74, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022, at Metro Hospital. She was born on August 25, 1947, in Grand Rapids. They would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on June 16, 2022. John retired from the City of Grand Rapids after 30+ years of service. Diane was most known for her time spent working at Wierdas Corner Store. They both loved to fish and enjoyed spending time up North together. They loved to travel, whether it be going to the casino or driving across the country. They both had a large sense of humor and were known for a good joke. They enjoyed many good times with friends and family whether it was camping, parties, or just playing cards. Most of all, they absolutely adored their grandchildren. John and Diane are survived by their son, John III (Stephanie) McKay and their children: Rylie and John IV McKay; and daughter, Dana McKay. Diane is survived by her mother, Beryl VanderLeest; brother, Don Joyce; and sister, Carol DeYoung. They will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and other friends. John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Madge (Baker) McKay; and his sister, Kathryn Seelman; Diane is preceded in death by her father, Dale Joyce. Together, they are preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Thomas DeYoung Sr., and a sister-in-law, Karen Joyce. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. John, Stephanie, and Dana would like to thank everyone for all of their love and support.
