John Paul "Jack" O'Brien, 92, of Grandville, passed away on April 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born on February 18, 1934, in Hancock, Michigan. A devoted husband and father, he was known for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering work ethic. He spent more than 40 years with Wolverine Construction, a testament to the dedication he brought to everything he did.
Jack had a deep love for the outdoors — camping, fishing, and photography were among his greatest joys. He was equally at home on a jobsite, always ready to help his family with whatever they needed, whether it was building a deck, replacing a roof, or tackling any project that came his way. A longtime active member of St. Pius X Church in Grandville, his faith was a cornerstone of his life.
Some of his most cherished memories were made camping with Mary and the kids at Manistee, and in their later years at St. Joseph Peninsula.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Mary; his son Patrick; and his daughter-in-law Sue.
Jack is survived by his children, Mike, Dan (Cindy), John, Michelle (Brian), Julie (Denny), and Tim; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius X Church in Grandville on Thursday, April 23, at 11:00 AM, with visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northwest Food Pantry.
