IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johanna Marie
Kessel-Bosma
September 13, 1952 – August 18, 2022
Johanna Kessel Bosma of Cedar Springs passed away on August 18, 2022 after a 25 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Johanna grew up in Luther & lived there for 50 years. She was an avid gardener. She loved spending time outside, hunting and fishing, and with her family. She loved music and had a great sense of humor. She was feisty and sassy, but had a huge heart, helping people in any way she could.
Johanna was a survivor of domestic violence. She suffered at the hands of her abuser for over 20 years while many closed their eyes & ears, before she finally crawled away one day and never went back. Though she was in hiding for a time & continued to look over her shoulder, she was strong, sought support and won the battle.
She then moved to Cedar Springs where she lived with family until MS progressed and she became a long time resident of Metron/Mission Point of Cedar Springs. While there, she made many friends, loved the staff and eventually met and married David. They remained married until his passing earlier this year. She was also wonderfully cared for by Hospice of Michigan and Promedica Hospice, with special thanks to her social worker, John.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Bosma, her parents, Albert & MaryEllen, & her brothers, John & Albert. She is survived by her Sister in Law, Kristine Kessel and many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, and several cousins. Cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life will be held per her wishes.
