Joanne Marie Peters of Caledonia Michigan, age 81 passed away peacefully on October 19, 2021. She was born to George and Helen (Deischl) on February 24, 1940. After graduating in 1958 from West Chicago High School she attended Northern Illinois University. On September 23, 1961 she married Kenneth Allen Peters, her high school sweetheart. For many years they resided in West Chicago, Illinois as well as Farmers Branch, TX, Reed City MI and Auburndale Florida where they enjoyed their Retirement. Joanne retired from the Michigan Credit Union in the early 1990's. Universally liked by all she came in contact with, Joanne was a Beacon of Light with an Infectious Smile. Affectionally called "Grandma Pete" by her grandkids she was the center and rock for the entire family. Joanne enjoyed many things from crafting to gardening to University of Notre Dame Football and all things Chicago. It was not uncommon to see Joanne dancing and enjoying music at family gatherings. She was preceded in death by her parents Helen and George (Deischl), Her Brother Dennis Deischl and her beloved Husband of 43 years Kenneth Allen Peters. Joanne is survived by her four children. Mary (Mark) Peters-Wojnowiak of Milwaukee Wisconsin, David A. Peters of Barryton Michigan, Connie (Tim) Koryto of Caledonia Michigan and Peggy (Gene) Mulak of Brookfield Connecticut. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren. Tyler (Theresa) Todd of Weidman, Michigan, Clayton (Samantha) Todd of Byron Center Michigan, Sarah M. Parm (Mike) of Byron Center Michigan, Monica M. Wojnowiak (Jack) of New York, NY, Claire C. Wojnowiak of Milwaukee Wisconsin, Hadlee M. Peters of Rodney Michigan, Nathaniel P. Mulak of Brookfield Connecticut, Anna (Kevin) Mogdics of Ravenna Michigan and Ryan Koryto of Cedar Springs, Michigan. Including 5 great grandchildren. (Nora, Liam, River, Lane, Avery, and 2 on the way) A Celebration of her Life will be held in a private family ceremony. Those wishing to offer expressions of sympathy are encouraged to make a memorial Contribution to Lewy Body Dementia Association at www.lbda.org.
