Joan DeBaar Walstrom, age 94, died on August 12, 2026, in Grandville, Michigan. 

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Don Walstrom; her son, Richard DeBaar; and her parents and siblings. She is remembered by her daughter, Gayle (Ed) Wiers; her son, Tim (Bardo) DeBaar; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. 

Born on November 9, 1931, Joan lived a long life marked by devotion to both faith and family. She loved God and was loved by God, a truth that remained central throughout her life. Those who knew her also knew her as someone who was always ready to have fun, bringing warmth and lively spirit to the moments she shared with others. 

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Calvary Church, 707 E. Beltline Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow. 

Joan DeBaar Walstrom will be remembered with love by her family and all who shared in her life.
