Joan Helene Kofoed (Krueger), age 91, of Wyoming, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023, at the
University of Michigan Health West.
She was born in Grand Rapids on June 28, 1931, to Lewis and Elsie (Davan) Krueger.
Joan attended South High School, where she graduated in 1949. She was very involved in music and was
a member of the marching band and the orchestra. She also enjoyed playing the organ. She was a lady
of many talents who could put a roof on a house and do all of her own plumbing. She had a beautiful
garden, loved sewing, and created beautiful ceramic pieces that her family will always cherish. Her
greatest love and devotion in life was to the Eastern Star. She was a very active, lifetime member and a
past matron. She belonged to the Peninsula Chapter #65 Order of the Eastern Star, the Social Order of
Beauceant Grand Rapids Assembly #68, and was Mistress of the Wardrobe Knight Templar Scottish Rite.
She traveled across the United States and Canada and served on many supreme committees.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kai V Kofoed; brother, Donald Lewis Krueger;
and sister, Delores Mae Shoults.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and even some great, great
nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500
Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood. A visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the
funeral home. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Kent Memorial Gardens, 7101 Clyde Park Ave SW, Byron
Center.
