Joan E. Deering of Hudsonville, Michigan, age 75, entered eternal rest on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at American House Willowood Manor of Jenison. She was born on Wednesday, February 23, 1944, in Nova Scotia, Canada and was adopted by her parents, William (Marguerite) Bond of Syracuse, Indiana, and Evelynn Bond of Santa Monica, California. Joan was a parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church of Grandville, MI. She was passionate about serving and helping others and was very giving of her time to help anyone who needed it. Joan worked in real estate and mortgage financing most of her life and created many relationships with her customers like family. Joan enjoyed music in the park, bowling, and handicrafts. She will be remembered for all the smiles and joy she brought to anyone she met in her journey of life. Joan is survived by Roger G. Deering, her childhood sweetheart-- the boy who lived across the street, whom she was married to for many years; three children Deborah (Matthew) Zondlak, Renay (Travis) Deering, and Mark (Amy) Deering; grandchildren Britney Zondlak of Byron Center, Ashley (Bronson) Swan of Hudsonville, Ryan (Alisha) O'Hearn of Mount Holly, NC, Emily Zondlak of Byron Center, Brooke Denslow of Grand Rapids, and Luke Denslow of West Olive; sister-in-law Sandra (Gerald) Krohn of Essexville; and brother-in-law Dale Deering of Muskegon. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Connie Lewis; father and mother-in-law Jake C. (Elvera L.) Deering; and brother David Bond. The memorial service for Joan will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2019, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Kentwood, MI 49508. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the service.
