Jo Ann Wortman (Huisman) passed away peacefully on June 13, 2024 at the age of 87. Born on March 16, 1937, in Grand Haven, Michigan to John and Dorothy (Schoonbeck) Huisman.
Jo Ann graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1955 and then Hackley School of Nursing in 1958, there after following her passion for nursing until her retirement.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Steven) Vetter, and son, Mark (Yvonne) Wortman, her brother, John (Lois) Huisman, and sister, Janet (Mike) Mastenbrook, grandchildren, Nicholas (Leeanna), Malcolm, Skyler, and Alexis Wortman, and her great-grandsons, Luca and Keanu Wortman. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Paul (Mary) Huisman.
Jo Ann was an avid sports enthusiast, especially when it came to the U of M and MSU rivalry, and Tom Izzo. She had a love for Lake Michigan as well as Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she attended services regularly.
Her wonderful sense of humor and joy of life will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life for Jo Ann will take place at 2:00 p.m. on June 27, 2024 followed by a luncheon at:
