Jennifer "Jenny" Karen Wendt passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, surrounded by family. Born on October 25, 1964, in Detroit, Jenny lived a life defined by her sharp wit, intelligence, and unwavering convictions.

Jenny grew up in Caledonia, Michigan, calling Grand Rapids, Dorr, and Spring Lake home over the years. She was the daughter of Marion Wendt (1997) and David Wendt (2020) and the beloved sister of Pamela "Pam" Smale (Steve), Russell "Russ" Wendt, and Mark Wendt (Tamera). She was also a proud and loving aunt to twelve nieces and nephews and devoted cat mom to Lola and Eddie.

After earning her bachelor's degree from Aquinas College (1982–1986), Jenny spent nearly 38 years at Aetna Insurance, where her colleagues became like a second family. Known for her clever humor, brilliant intellect, and ability to tell it like it is, Jenny earned the respect and affection of those who worked alongside her.

In her free time, Jenny loved to go to shows, travel, craft, and read—often with a Tab in hand and her cats nearby. She enjoyed a spirited debate, spoke her mind with clarity, and had a talent for making people laugh with her sharp observations and well-timed remarks. Her family and friends knew they could count on her honesty, her sense of humor, and her unshakable loyalty.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., also at Ofield Funeral Home, followed by a luncheon where all are welcome to gather, share stories, and honor Jenny's life.

Jenny will be remembered for her sharp mind, her quick wit, her deep sense of love and loyalty, and her refusal to be anyone but herself. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her legacy of laughter, intelligence, and authenticity will live on in all who knew her.
