Jeffrey R. Pelton, age 66, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025, after courageously facing significant health challenges in recent years. Born on August 8, 1958, in Grand Rapids, Jeff's life was one of service, love, and adventure, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. Jeff was a devoted family man whose memory will be held close to the heart by his wife, Kim (Hage) Pelton, children, Rick (Amy) Mockerman, Rob (Destinee) Mockerman, Bridgette (Alex) Phipps, Matt Smalligan (Olga Kaspruk), Shelly Smalligan, and Desi Webb (Marty Frey). His joy was multiplied with the laughter of his 15 grandchildren and the sweet presence of his 2 great-grandchildren. Jeff's siblings, Linda Carrick, Laura Pelton, and brother Larry (Diane) Pelton, along with his nieces Tracy and Amanda, and nephews Chris, Corey, Chad, and Brian, will miss his guidance and humor. His faithful dogs, favorite girl, Luna and best buddy, Bentley, were by his side until the end. Jeff's commitment to his country was evident through his service as a medic in the Army National Guard. Following his military service, he continued to impact the community through his work as a supervisor at various manufacturing plants. His leadership and work ethic left a lasting impression on his colleagues and those under his guidance. An avid traveler, Jeff found joy and freedom on the open road. His passion for motorcycles led him to undertake several cross-country trips, creating memories and stories that he would share with enthusiasm. Equally passionate about sports, Jeff was a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers and Lions. Jeff's zest for life, his unwavering support for his loved ones, and his dedication to his community have left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. As Jeff's family and friends gather to honor and remember his remarkable life, they will share stories of his kindness, his laughter, and the love he had for his family. Jeff's compassionate heart, kind nature, generous spirit, and ever-present sense of humor were evident to all who knew him. His journey through life was a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of love to transcend even the greatest challenges. Jeffrey R. Pelton's life will be celebrated at a Memorial Service held at 12:00 pm on Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave., Kentwood, MI 49508. Jeff's family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00 am until the time of services Friday at the funeral home.
