IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeffrey Scott
Heth
August 18, 1947 – January 7, 2026
Jeffrey S. Heth, aged 78, of Belmont, Michigan entered into His Kingdom surrounded by his family that loved him dearly, after a six-year battle with mesothelioma.
Jeff's biggest accomplishment and pride was the family he and Mary created; six children and 16 grandchildren. You could find him mowing the lawn with a kid on his lap, raising chickens, attending countless games, matches, dance competitions, concerts, and events just to watch them thrive.
To know him was to love him. Jeff had the uncanny ability to make friends amongst a group of strangers. The gift of making those around him smile with his quick wit and a twinkle in his eye was his superpower. He could bring comfort and genuine care with a simple hug or handshake.
He was preceded in death by his parents Claude W. & Dorothy J. (Alexander) Heth and his brother David W. Heth. He is survived by his adoring wife of 49 years, Mary (Schmitz) Heth, brothers, Dr. William (Susie) Heth of Upland, IN and John (Barb) Heth of Rockford, MI, children, David (Lauren) Heth, Melissa (Adam) Burkholder, Kristen (Jared) Elyea, Katie (Tim) Lentine, Kelly (Paul) Anderson, Maggie (Aaron) Kutsche, grandchildren, Ellie & Evan Heth; Jackson & Allory Burkholder; Colton, Lucy & Henry Elyea; Lauren, Colin, Claudia & Ryder Lentine; Edward & Clara Anderson; Owen, Caleb & Natalie Kutsche, brother in laws, David and Brad Schmitz, many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends, especially their Potluck Group.
After graduating from East Grand Rapids high school in 1965, he went on to study business at Central Michigan University in preparation to operate the family business. He spent his distinguished career with his brother John, as the 4th generation owners of Groskopf's Luggage & Gifts. He formed many countless relationships with customers who became friends in his 55+ years in the business.
Jeff's love for the outdoors was undeniable. From his early years at Silver Lake with his brothers to more recent years of fishing with the grandkids, he loved his time spent with family in nature. Anyone that knew him well knew about his favorite refuge, the cabin. The family cabin in Baldwin was his second home where hunting, fishing, bonfires, archery lessons, trap shooting, driving lessons, and tube floats were always part of the fun.
