Obituary

Jeffrey L Borst passed away September 28, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving wife and sons. Jeff was a friend to everyone. He had an engaging and infectious smile, a loving nature, and always showed kindness beyond measure. He lived his life with the words "Life is good."

Jeff was born in Grand Rapids on September 28, 1957 to Dorothy H Borst. Many summer days were spent on Morley Street playing baseball until the street lights came on. Jeff attended North Park Junior High School, where a special group of classmates became lifelong friends. He graduated from Creston High School in 1976 and while there, he was an all-star baseball pitcher.

Jeff met his wife Gwen at Keebler, and this was the beginning of their love story. They married on August 26, 1989. Jeff and Gwen have two sons that are their pride and joy, Jacob Jeffrey Borst and Curtis Jeffrey Borst.

Jeff worked at Kellogg's with his wife for 37 years. In those years, he developed many lasting friendships. He was well liked and respected by his coworkers, and known for his friendly and welcoming disposition.

Jeff was a fan of the Georgetown Hoyas and the NCAA tournament. He enjoyed March madness and filling out brackets with his family. From the time the boys were little, Jeff would spend hours creating poster board brackets.

Jeff enjoyed fishing (even while his boat was sinking), playing softball, aquariums, houseplants, and taking care of his lawn. Of all of Jeff's interests, he had a passion for music. It would be just like Jeff to bring the beauty of music into everyone's lives.

He loved spending time with family and friends. Most importantly in life, Jeff's goal was to ensure his sons would have a loving and wonderful childhood. He built cardboard houses in the basement where his boys spent many hours. Camping was a family favorite. He loved to make holidays special by creating magical and wondrous memories.

Jeff was an avid lifelong fan of the Detroit Lions. Go Lions!

After retirement, he devoted his days to taking care of his family, playing with his dog, Luna, and attending his nephew's soccer games. He also loved to spend time listening to music in his plant room.

Jeff will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife, Gwen; his sons, Jacob Borst and Curtis Borst; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marlene (Ron) Borst, Karen (Tom) Barefoot, Dan (Renee) Porter, Julie (Bob) Hall, Betty (Bill) Phillips, Don (Mi) Porter, Kathie (Dave) Deal, Dwayne (Robyn) Porter; many nieces and nephews; and his dearest friends, Mike (Nan) Vander Voord.

On a personal note, Gwen would like the world to know that Jeff was her everything. He was the man of her dreams.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 3-7pm at the family home, 3819 Havana Ave SW, Wyoming, Michigan 49509. All are welcome.
