Jeanne Anne Hecksel, age 90, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022.

She was born on May 9, 1931, to Harold and Reva (Long) Lyon. She was born and raised in Grand Rapids. After high school, she got her diploma in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for over 30 years at both Butterworth and Saint Mary's Hospitals.

Jeanne was an animal lover. She especially loved cats. She also enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, gardening, and traveling. She took great joy in spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children: Tom (Lori) Hecksel, Greg (Bonnie) Hecksel, and Dan (Terri) Hecksel; grandchildren: Justin (Violet) Hecksel, Jordan Hecksel, Lauren (Greg) Eardley, Bethany (Brandon) McClure, Mark Hecksel (Christina Abraham), Ryan (Ashley) Hecksel, Jillian Hecksel, Matt Hecksel, and Ben (Stephanie) Hecksel; great-grandchildren: Belle, Heidi, Hadassah, Braylon, Declan, Emersyn, Brooks, Berklee, Ellie, Amelia, Christian, Llyric, Beckhym, Owen, Isabel, Cayden, Avery, Connor, and Cameron; sisters-in-law: Jeanne Hecksel and Jean Hecksel; brother in law, Harley Hecksel; and her cat, Katy.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hadley Hecksel; and her parents, Harold and Reva Lyon.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood. A visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
