January 10, 2013 Jean R. Metsker (Dodge/Dudicz), age 86, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013. Jean was a graduate of Grand Rapids, South High School, Class of 1944; North Central Michigan College, Associates Degree 1966; MSU, BA, Elementary Education, 1970; MSU, MA, Educational Administration, 1976. Jean was an English teacher for the Grand Rapids Public Schools from 1969 until 1988 at Riverside Middle School. Jean performed as an orchestral violinist from 1960- 2005. She performed with the Grand Rapids Symphony; Traverse City Symphony Orchestra; West Shore Symphony; Kalamazoo Symphony and Midland Symphony. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Charles H. and Marion G. (Hutchins) Dodge, her husband, Leonard S. Metsker and sister, Janet (Dodge) Upton. Jean is survived by her children: Gary (Patricia) Dudicz of Grand Rapids; Linda (Kevin) O'Meara of Bellaire, MI; Jeffry (Diane) Dodge of Grand Rapids; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.
