Janis Lynn Anastor (McKenzie), age 72 of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday August 4, 2018 at Spectrum Health. Janis was born May 20, 1946 to Walter & Marguerite Parker. She is preceded in death by her parents and only sibling, Alice "Babe" Adams. She leaves two children, Lisa Chase and Tony Anastor. Her grandchildren she cherished so much; Heather Newville, Trevor Chase, McKenzie Scheib, and Forrest Chase. Her great grandson, Ethan Newville, the light of life. Her dear cousins; Karel Anderson, Kathy LaBelle, and Cindi Pittman. As well as an extended family and friends who she loved deeply. Janis lived life simply. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with family; especially her great grandson, Ethan. She selflessly held on to life as she brought her family together, making sure each of them wore a smile before she let go. She was a fighter, a comedian, a trendy shopper, and most importantly a giver. The family would like to thank Spectrum Health 4 Heart, as well as Spectrum Health Hospice for their amazing patient care. To the evening nurse, Tyler, for his compassion, empathy, and words of encouragement that touched our hearts during a very difficult process. We cherish you all. We will be celebrating her life simply, just as she would ask us to do. We publicly invite family and friends to celebrate together with a luncheon on Sunday August 12, 2018 from 12-3pm at Knights of Columbus Hall (1140 Muskegon Ave NW Grand Rapids MI 49504).
