Obituary

Janice Ann Harris, 83 of Newaygo, finished her earthly journey and returned home on March 31st, 2026, after a 2-year battle of cancer. Janice was born on December 15th, 1942, in Big Rapids to Melvin and Wanda Cooley. She married Clarence Harris on July 3, 1970.She worked for many years as a seamstress at Wolverine and later partnered with her late husband, Clarence, at CTEC.

Janice will be lovingly remembered for her passion for gardening, her joy in cooking, and her cherished collection of cookbooks. She also loved her annual trips to the Bahamas with family, where she made many memories.

She is survived by her four daughters, Debra (Edward) Johnson of Cedar Springs, Pamela (Mike) Johnson of Interlochen, Julie (Ryan) Pearson of Newaygo and Penny (Todd) Drougal of Rockford; eight grandchildren, Lisa (Chris), Hanna (Anthony), Brandi (Nick), Alex, Emily, Shelby (Chris), Cadence and Matthew; Four great grandchildren, Natalie, Trinity, Elih and Laila; four brothers, Jerry (Connie), Melvin (Christine), Kenny (Darla), and Terry (Betty); one sister, Jeanne; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Harris; brothers, Jim, Jack, Randee and Fred; sisters, Linda and Roxanne; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kalli and Jacob.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor Janice’s memory and the love she shared throughout her life.
