Janet Marie Leach (Quillan) was born December 29, 1934 in Belding, Michigan.
She attended Belding Public schools through 6th grade, St. Charles Catholic school in Greenville 7th and 8th grade, St. Patrick's school in Parnell for 9th and 10th grade and then Mount Mercy Academy in Grand Rapids her Junior/Senior years graduating from Mount Mercy Academy in Grand Rapids in 1952.
Not long after high school, Janet met Jack and dated for some time and married September 7, 1957. They lived a short time in Alexandria, Virginia (Ft. Belvoir) while Jack served 2 years in the Army. Not long after departing from the Army, they moved to San Mateo, California while Jack was working in San Francisco. In 1960, they moved back to Grand Rapids where they lived out the rest of their lives raising their children.
Janet liked talking about many topics, singing in the church choir, playing the organ and listening to music. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing and especially reading / studying scripture and religion.
Some of her older memories were heating bricks to put in her bed at night during the winter months, babysitting for 10 cents per hour, working at the D&C Dime store and fishing and hunting with her fatheracting as the 'flusher & fetcher'.
Janet became a big fan of Notre Dame football after meeting Jack and this spilled over into watching herchildren and grand children compete in sports. Janet also traveled a lot with Jack over the years covering 30 States and 12 countries. Janet visited her Ancestral Castle - Dunluce located on the northerncoast of Ireland, picked shamrocks there and stood in the Irish Sea. She met a few famous people over the years too including the 1980 US Secretary of State and in 1976 President Gerald R. Ford. Janet also served as her husband's campaign manager in 1976 for his run for the U.S. Congress.
Janet celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary four years ago to the love of her life and best friend Jack back on September 7, 2017.
Janet passed away peacefully on January 24, 2022. She will be missed by her children and friends.
Janet leaves behind 4 children :
Michael, Maureen, Martin and Marianne
Daughter / Son- in-laws:
Jana (Wiegerink) and Sandy (White) , Tom VanHarn.
8 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren:

Additionally, Janet leaves behind her sister Marion Greenop (Quillan), and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death are Janet's brother Jerome Paul Quillan May 20, 2010, his wife Gertrude M. Quillan August 9, 2013, Marion's husband David Charles Greenop January 9, 2019, sister JoAnn Teresa Quillan January 31, 2018 and parents Joseph Clayton Quillan December 30, 1983 and Teresa Gertrude Quillan (Patin) August 20, 1989.
There will be a memorial service for Janet at Christ Church on March 12, 2022. Visitation will be at 10:00am and the Memorial service will begin at 11:00am. Janet will be interred at Woodlawn Cemetery with her husband Jack.
