IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janet (Jan) Louise
Kutschinski
October 29, 1946 – September 18, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Janet (Jan) Louise Kutschinski, age 77, of Wyoming, Michigan. Janet passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Born on October 29, 1946, in (South) Chicago, Illinois, she deeply touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love.
Jan was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Kutschinski whom she was married to for 57 years; her loving children, Christian (Joanna) Kutschinski and Catherine Kutschinski RN BSN. She is also remembered by her siblings, sisters Joan Vandertil and Jean (Art) Conrad, and brother James Schreiber. Additionally, Jan held a special place in her heart for Tim (Tabi) Fischer and their children, Alex (Evan) Bremer, Nate Fischer, Jillian Fischer, and Annabelle Fischer, Brian (Paula) Hartley and their children Erin (Ross) Vanderlaan, Sarah (Aaron) Mitchell, whom she lovingly referred to as her "Not by blood, but by my heart" family. Jan was also survived by many additional quilting friends and church family whom she held very close to her heart. She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Junellen (Leggott) Schreiber, her beloved nephew, Chad Noffke, and her sister, Judy Groendyke-Tucker.
Jan dedicated many years of her professional life as a customer service representative at the local cable company, where she was known for her diligence and meticulousness to details. This is an expectation she had when encountering others. Outside of her professional work, she had a passion for quilting, knitting, reading, and cross-stitching. Jan found joy in participating in numerous quilt retreats and was an active member of the Yarn Benders and various quilting guilds. She also played a pivotal role in leading the Young at Heart group at Grace Lutheran Church. Jan loved being on social media and was the administrator for the Paul Anka Facebook fan page. Jan's gentle spirit and compassionate heart will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us all.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jan's life during visitation at Ofield Funeral Home on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 3 PM to 6 PM and Monday, September 23, 2024 from 10 AM to 11 AM at Grace Lutheran Church 150 50th St SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49548.
