Obituary

Janet Lynn Ferrier, affectionately known as Jan to her friends and family, was welcomed into the arms of her Creator on January 3, 2026, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on November 5, 1950, in Butler, Pennsylvania, Jan's life was a testament to her enduring faith and the love she had for her family.

A devoted Christian, Jan radiated the love of Christ in all aspects of her life. She embodied the scripture, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit" (Romans 15:13). Jan's love was her guiding force, a beacon that shone brightly upon everyone she touched.

Jan obtained a Bachelor's degree in textiles from Michigan State University, later enhancing her skills with an Associate's degree in Administrative Assistance from Lansing Community College. Her career journey included time spent as a talented seamstress and as a dedicated administrative assistant, roles in which she excelled.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Jan was immersed in a life rich with passions and hobbies. She was an accomplished seamstress, often found creating beautiful garments and quilts. Jan's garden was a place of peace and joy. Her grandsons, Gideon and Seth, were the apples of her eye, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Jan's adventurous spirit led her to travel, exploring new places and experiencing the beauty of the world. She was also a regular at the theatre, enjoying the magic of the stage, and found comfort in the company of her beloved kitties.

Janet's life was a reflection of her values—faith-filled, loving, and kind. These words not only describe her, they define the legacy she leaves behind. She is survived by her loving daughter Sarah and her husband Dylan, and their children Gideon and Seth; her son Mark and his wife MiChele, and her grandson Ethan; her brothers Cliff and his wife Angie, David and his wife Annette; and brothers-in-law Don and his wife Linda, and Richard and his wife Brenda. Jan is joined in heaven by her beloved husband, David Ferrier, who preceded her in death. Her memory will also be cherished by the many nieces and nephews who knew her as Aunt Jan, a woman of great warmth and compassion.

As we bid farewell to Janet Lynn Ferrier, we are reminded of the joy she found in life's simplest pleasures and her unwavering faith in God. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she shared will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. We take comfort in knowing she has found eternal peace and rejoice in the knowledge that her legacy will live on through the lives she touched. Jan's life story is one of unwavering faith, boundless love, and kindness that extended to all she met—a true servant of the Lord, now resting in His eternal glory.
