IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane Elizabeth
Sherburne
July 31, 1935 – July 6, 2024
Jane Elizabeth Sherburne (née Dolloff), a beacon of love and gentleness, concluded her remarkable journey on earth on July 6, 2024. Born on July 31, 1935, in Montcalm County, Michigan, she embraced the world with a thoughtful heart and an unwavering spirit that would illuminate the lives of all who knew her. Jane departed peacefully from this life due to natural causes in the comforting surroundings of her home in Howard City, Michigan.
Her life was a tapestry of love woven with the threads of devotion to her family and the simple pleasures that brought joy to her days. Jane was a homemaker, a role she performed with unparalleled grace and dedication. She was the nurturing force behind a bustling household, ensuring that each of her ten children—Howard, Elizabeth Ann Miller (1958-2010), Martin (Sherry), Brenda Almy, Roland (Julie), Vanita Almy, Katharine Hawkins, John (Betty), Walter (Mary), and Randolph Scott; along with 100 plus grandkids, great-grandkids and great great grandkids—grew up in an environment brimming with love and care.
Though preceded in death by her beloved husband, Martin E. Sherburne, Jane's legacy of love endures through her family. Her gentle guidance and thoughtful wisdom have been the cornerstone of their lives, a testament to her enduring influence.
Jane's interests were a reflection of her inner beauty. Her fingers danced over piano keys, filling her home with melodies that echoed the rhythm of her soul. She found solace in crocheting, each stitch a symbol of the love she so freely gave. Lighthouses, with their steadfast light amidst the darkness, captivated her imagination and mirrored her own role as a guiding light for her family.
In her essence, Jane was the epitome of loving, gentle, and thoughtful. These words are not merely descriptors but the very principles by which she lived her life. Her presence was a gift, her smile a reminder to cherish every moment, and her wisdom a compass for those seeking direction.
Let us celebrate Jane Elizabeth Sherburne, not with sorrow, but with the joy she instilled in our hearts. Her journey was not just one of years and milestones but of moments and memories that will continue to inspire and guide us. As we reflect on her life, let us embody the qualities she exemplified and spread the love she so freely gave. Jane's story is not one of an end but a beautiful reminder of the impact one life, lived with purpose and grace, can have on the world.
We will be celebrating Jane's life on September 1, 2024 with a memorial service at Reynolds Township Cemetery from 10:30am to 11:30am. After the service, there will be a celebration of life, location to be determined at a later date.
