It is with heavy hearts we mourn the passing of Jane Levering, age 75, of Jenison. Jane passed into
eternal glory on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024. We rejoice in knowing that Jane went home to be with
Jesus.
Jane grew up in West Michigan, graduating from Catholic Central. Shortly after graduating she met the
love of her life when she met Ed. They quickly fell in love and started a family. Jane was loved by all who
met her and was blessed to add many bonus family members along the way. Those that knew Jane will
always remember her sassiness and sense of humor.
Jane loved spending time with her family and friends, playing cards and games, being outdoors, reading,
and traveling. She was a creative person and found outlets in painting, writing poetry, and crafting. One
of her biggest passions was quilting and designing quilts. She was a long-time member of the West
Michigan Quilters Guild, and part of the "Dorr Mice" quilting bee. Jane enjoyed going on many quilting
retreats.
Preceding Jane in death are her parents Peter and Janet Popma, and her husband Edward "EJ" Levering.
She is survived by her children Rhonda (Greg) VanderHorn, Margo (Jeff) Yakes, and Joshua (Candy)
Levering. Grandchildren Nicole (Matthew) Galvan, Martin (Jeslyn) Yakes, Allie Yakes, Peter VanderHorn,
and Ezra Yakes. Siblings Doug (Diane) Popma, Tom (Beatriz) Popma, and Pat McCormick, as well as a
large extended family and many friends.
There will be a time of visitation on Monday, February 5, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ofield
Funeral Home 4500 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Grand Rapid, MI 49508. The memorial service for Jane will be
celebrated on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Sunshine Community Church 3019 Coit Ave. NE,
Grand Rapids, MI 49505. There will be an hour visitation prior to the service. In honor of Jane, coffee
and desserts will follow the service.
Those wishing to offer expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers may make a contribution to Jane's
Memorial Fund at Ofield Funeral Home.
