Jane & Glenn Dahlman
La Vie en Rose Forever
Jane Elizabeth Humbel Dahlman passed away on September 17, 2021 at the age of 90. She was born on May 2, 1931 to John Clayton and Lucinda Anne (Laux) Humbel of Detroit.
Jane was one of the kindest individuals God ever created. She was a graduate of Dominican High School and while a student asked a young man from De La Salle to a dance. One dance led to another dance and soon Glenn Dahlman became her date to every dance from that day forward. They married October 4, 1952 and had four children. They shared many life long friendships as well as a love of travel, current events and a shared faith. Her mother-in-law even described Jane as the perfect wife. After all their years together, she still laughed at his jokes and he still remembered what she was wearing when they first met.
Like many women of her era - once her children were older - Jane returned to school and went back to work. She was employed by the Department of Justice and proud of her work at the U.S. Attorneys office in Detroit. Once they retired, Jane and Glenn kept the airlines busy. Together they walked the Great Wall of China, sailed through the Panama Canal, enjoyed the view from the Eiffel Tower, toured the Egyptian pyramids and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Jane's baking was legendary and no one will ever forget her delicious pies and cookies. The family wishes to thank The Oaks and Kindred Hospice for the care and companionship provided to Jane in her final months. She has now been reunited with her husband Glenn and their beloved daughter Mary.
Jane will be lovingly remembered by her children: Glendon Charles (Lynn), Thomas Matthew, Ann Catherine (John) Foster and the late Mary Elizabeth (Gerry) Kelly. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Glendon (Shawn), David, Ann Marie, Natalie (Chase), Mark, Emily (John), John and Elizabeth and the great grandmother of Chase, Mary Elizabeth, Charles and Eleanor. She was the dear sister of John Humbel and the late Sr. Mary Anne Humbel. A memorial mass will be scheduled for 2022 followed by inurnment at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
