Jan Marie Junewick, age 56, of Caledonia, passed away from accidental injuries on September 2nd and is now resting in the arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior. Jan was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on April 13th, 1961. She attended East Kentwood High School and was valedictorian of her graduating class of 1979. Jan then attended Grand Rapids Junior College for 2 years before taking a career appointment at the US Postal Service where she was employed for 36 years. Throughout her lifetime Jan was selflessly committed to her family. She took impeccable care of her mother, Betty, who she phoned 5-6 times a day. After each phone call, her mother would say "I love you" and Jan would respond "I love you more". Not only was Jan close to her mother, but she was the best friend to her sister Jill whose heart will be forever broken with her loss. Jan and Jill shared everything, from a bedroom growing up as kids, to secrets, laughter, and heartache. Jan was also a loving and devoted great aunt to Austin, Sienna, and Chase. On the day of her passing, Jan took the children to two different parks and then back to grandma's where she played board games with the children on the floor. No words can describe how much she loved the kids and she did everything for them. Aside from doting on the children, Jan managed to squeeze in time for her wonderful friends and partners in crime, Patty, Lisa, Mary and Karen. Jan was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Junewick and sisters, Kim Junewick and Joy Ottenwess. She is survived by her mother, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Junewick, sister, Jill Junewick, niece, Jade Ottenwess, great niece, Sienna Constant and great nephews, Austin Madrigal and Chase Constant. Please join us for a Celebration of Jan's life at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE, on Thursday from 5-8pm with a Bible Vigil at 7:30pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 8th, 11am, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4101 Clyde Park Ave SW. The family will greet friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at church.
