IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James C
Williams
July 26, 1933 – August 8, 2025
James C. Williams, age 92, of Mason, Michigan, passed away on August 8, 2025. Born on July 26, 1933, in Ann Arbor, Michigan to the late Everett and Lucille Williams, Jim lived a full and vibrant life marked by service, hard work, and laughter. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 before returning home to help run the family business, Williams Department Stores, alongside his brother Paul. Together, they operated the business until their retirement in 1993.
In 1978, Jim married Arlene Bond (Griffin) and brought her to Yale. In 1995, they relocated to beautiful Charlevoix, Michigan, where they enjoyed lakeside living before settling in Mason in 2011 to be closer to their grandchildren. Together they had 34 wonderful years of marriage before Arlene's passing in 2012. Jim had a passion for reading, enjoyed travel, and never missed a chance to watch the Michigan State Spartans, Detroit Lions or Tigers. Known for his sharp wit and ever-ready jokes, Jim's sense of humor was one of his defining traits, bringing smiles to family, friends, and strangers alike.
He is survived by his sister Janet Noble (Tom decd.) brother Paul (Elaine) Williams; children Timothy and LuAnn (Vince) Collura; stepsons Gregory (Denise) Bond, Todd (Angela Peplinski), Stephen (Stacey) Bond and 12 beloved grandchildren. Jim's legacy of kindness, humor and love of family will be dearly remembered by all who knew him.
The family honors the memory of Jim and invites you to visit and share memories Thursday, August 28th, from 3 to 6 PM at Yale VFW Post 8594, 4 W. Mechanic St. Yale, MI.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your local Hospice.
