Obituary

James Joseph VanZytveld, known fondly as Jim, passed away on July 3, 2024, at the age of 37. Born on September 30, 1986, Jim brought a spirit of adventure and a contagious sense of humor to everyone he met. His life was a testament to the power of resilience and the importance of family, a theme that was woven throughout his years. Jim grew up in a close-knit family and was the beloved son of Suzanne VanZytveld and the late Jim A. VanZytveld. He shared an unbreakable bond with his siblings, Joe (Joey) VanZytveld and Cindy VanZytveld, and cherished the role of being a fun and loving uncle to his nieces, Haleigh and Hannah, and his nephew, Ricky. Jim's most treasured role, however, was being a devoted father to his son, Jameson Cole VanZytveld, who was his pride and joy. He also leaves behind grandparents, Pat and Mary L. Riley, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A proud veteran, Jim served his country as a Specialist in the Army, demonstrating commitment and bravery. His dedication to service was a significant chapter in his life and helped shape the man he became. After his military service, Jim faced personal challenges with courage and determination. His journey to becoming clean and sober for two years before his passing was a source of inspiration to those around him, highlighting his strength and willpower to create a positive change in his life. Jim had a passion for the outdoors, which was evident to anyone who knew him. His love for fishing was more than just a hobby; it was a way for him to connect with nature and find peace. Animals, especially dogs, held a special place in his heart, and he was often found in the company of his four-legged friends, simply relaxing in the tranquility of nature. Those who knew Jim will remember him as a man with an adventurous spirit, always ready to explore new horizons and take on challenges with a smile. His sense of humor was unforgettable, often lighting up a room and bringing laughter to any situation. Jim was also incredibly thoughtful, always taking the time to consider the feelings of others and going out of his way to help those in need. Jim's passing leaves a void in the hearts of his loved ones, but his spirit will continue to live on through the memories they hold dear. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and the courage to face life's obstacles head-on. James Joseph VanZytveld will be deeply missed, but the stories of his adventures, his funny anecdotes, and his thoughtful deeds will ensure that his memory remains vibrant and alive for all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we say goodbye to Jim, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey of ups and downs, but most importantly, a journey filled with love and laughter. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and friends, and his memory will be cherished forever.
