IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Ronald
Johnston
May 30, 1946 – May 2, 2020
James "Jim" Johnston transitioned from the physical world into the arms of his loving Heavenly Father on May 2, 2020, at his home, while being surrounded by family. He will be greatly missed.
Jim was born May 30, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan and he grew up in the Linwood, Michigan area.
Jim faithfully answered the call to military service, enlisting first in the U.S. Navy, then enlisting in the U.S. Army, as a Ranger. Honorably Discharged from military service, Jim missed the fellowship of his military brothers and participated in a Memorial Day parade. Jim frequently wore his "Vietnam Veteran" cap, and was blessed by folks who would pay for his lunch, or simply say, "Thank you for your service."
The outdoors was one of Jim's favorite places. Fishing, camping, boating, or just sitting around a campfire. Jim was a gifted artisan, able to paint pictures, make small stone wishing wells, or build elaborate model (working) clocks, moving carousels, and country churches.
He was ready to help those in need of material things, as well as provide an encouraging word. Jim was a problem solver, trying to make things better. He loved. He loved his family. He loved his country, he simply loved.
Jim is survived by his wife Julie, children Lori, Jimmy, and step son John and his wife Joanne. Loving Grandfather to Nadia, Tyler, Alex and Henry. Jim is also survived by his sister, Louise, mother-in-law Lucile, as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, friends and work acquaintances.
Upon Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no funeral service. A private family internment will take place at a later date.
