James Arthur Lumbert (Jim), age 83, of DeWitt, Michigan, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023.

Jim was born January 5, 1940, in Sebewa, Michigan, to Francis and Lila (Weir) Lumbert. Jim was the 3rd oldest of 11 children. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings: Sonny, Jean, Wayne and Cindy.

Jim graduated from Portland High School in 1958, where he held numerous track and field records. Jim married Martha (Hickey) on March 4, 1961. Jim and his brother Kip joined the Military Police in 1962, where Jim was stationed in Italy.

Jim retired from General Motors Company in 1989.  After retirement, he enjoyed refereeing football games, working in his barn, and going to auctions.  He and Martha, along with his granddaughter Lasey, enjoyed making crafts and setting up at Trufant, Buckley Park, Clare and Mason Steam Engine Show.

Jim is survived his wife Martha; 3 sons: Jimmy Lumbert (Theresa), Rodney (Tammy) Lumbert, and Michael (Tammie) Lumbert; siblings: Gladah Thelen, Jerry Lumbert, Clifford (Kip) Lumbert, Wendy (Lin) Mater, Bob (Dawn) Lumbert, and Larry (Sandy) Lumbert; grandchildren: Lasey (Weston) Brower, Ty Lumbert, Sofia Rabi-Lumbert, Nina (Jonathan) Falls, and Kylee Moreland; great grandchildren: Wilson, Riley, Lucy and Isla; and lastly, a special friend and caregiver, Doreen Siel- Lewis.

A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., at Grand Ledge SDA Church, (4980 Burt Ave, Grand Ledge, MI 48837).  Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family following the service over a luncheon.
