Obituary

James Brian Harrison passed away on June 18, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on April 7, 1943, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, James was a beacon of adventure throughout his life.

James's life journey was shared with his beloved wife, Marcia Harrison. Together, they raised two daughters, Vandi L. (Donald) Patterson and Nicole M. (Chad) Reed. James was a proud grandfather to Gabriel Patterson, Cassandra M. (Christian McKeown) Reed, and Harrison J. Reed, and a cherished great-grandfather to Hazel Renee McKeown.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Grant T. Harrison and Clela I. Harrison, as well as his brother, Robert Harrison, and sister-in-law, Joy Harrison.

James's adventurous spirit was ignited at the young age of 16 when he became an enthusiastic motorcycle rider. His passion for motorcycles was not limited to touring; he also delighted in racing. His love for the open road was a constant throughout his life.

But motorcycles were just the beginning. James embraced the sky with the same fervor, enjoying a couple of years of skydiving and serving as a jump-master. His courage and leadership were evident as he guided others through the exhilarating experience of freefall and safe parachute deployment.

Not one to sit idle, James also found joy in the precision and discipline of shooting sports. He was an accomplished skeet and trap shooter, earning several trophies that stood as testament to his sharp eye and steady hand.

One of James's most remarkable contributions was his role as a HAM Radio operator. He was one of three operators who assisted astronauts when their instruments failed while traveling over by balloon.

In quieter moments, James could be found immersed in the world of computer games, where he applied the same focus and determination that characterized his more physical pursuits. James found joy and many new friends in the digital realm.

James Brian Harrison family remembers him as the embodiment of adventure. His memory will forever be a guiding star for those who seek to live life to the fullest, embracing each new day with the same enthusiasm and vigor that he did.
