Obituary

James Frances Wood

Jim grew up in a loving family of five, enjoying an adventurous childhood filled with camping and boating trips, thanks to his parents' love for the great outdoors. Those early experiences instilled in him a deep appreciation for nature and a zest for life.

After high school, Jim answered the call to serve his country by joining the Marine Corps. He had a passion for cooking and shared his culinary talents with the community by working in several local restaurants. He also had a knack for tinkering and fixing things, specializing in small engines—a perfect complement to his love of the outdoors.

When his father became ill, Jim embraced the role of caregiver with dedication and compassion. The bond between Jim and his father was unbreakable; they were best buddies who shared countless adventures and cherished time together. His care and love for his father were a testament to Jim's generous and selfless spirit.

In recent years, life presented Jim with its share of challenges. The passing of his father and his own medical conditions brought difficult times. Yet, through it all, Jim remained steadfast in his love for family and friends. He never missed a family gathering and was a faithful friend to those fortunate enough to know him.

Jim found comfort and community in his church home at Victory Fellowship Church in Newaygo. He cherished his church family and the friendships he formed there, which brought him joy and strength.

Jim is survived by his three sisters, Debra Ferguson, Marguerite Reyes, and Patricia Crawford; his brother, Robert Wood; his two daughters, Susan Niebuhr and Doris Lanier; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.

A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at Victory Fellowship Church in Newaygo, Michigan, officiated by Pastor Dave Russell.

Jim will be remembered for his kind heart and his unwavering resilience. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
